Catherine Kent Obituary
Catherine C. Kent, 86, of Scottsdale, AZ and Coatesville, PA was born in Coatesville, PA. She passed away on May 26, 2008 in Scottsdale, AZ after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease. Catherine was a loving wife and Mother. She truly believed in living, loving, and laughing. She will be sorely missed. Catherine was a teacher in the Philadelphia School District for many years. She enjoyed teaching tremendously. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church Coatesville, PA, where she sang in the choir and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Scottsdale, AZ. Catherine graduated from Harcum Junior College, Bryn Mawr, PA, with an Associate degree. She then transferred to Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, and graduated with her BS degree in Education. She continued further to attain two masters degrees, an MA in Math, and an MA in Reading. Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Stephen F. Kent, her parents, Frank and Teodora Nash, sisters Joanna Krajewski and brother Michael Nash. Catherine is survived by her children, S. John Kent (Barbara Strickarz) of Florence, N.J., Richard F. Kent (Florence and grandson Christian) of Stamford, CT, and Cathy Kent Croom (Henry, and grandson Jonathan) of Scottsdale, AZ. She is survived by her sisters, Frances Toth, of Wagontown, PA and Helen Novak, of West Chester, PA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Over the years, Catherine enjoyed traveling with her family. Her travels took her to Canada, England, France, Austria, and throughout the United States. A highlight of her travels was the transatlantic crossing on the Queen Elizabeth II. Upon retirement, she traveled to Arizona for the winters with her husband. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008, 9-10 AM at the Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 3801 N. Miller Road, Scottsdale, Arizona, with entombment at Paradise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 9300 E. Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, Arizona.
