Char Berens Obituary

Berens, Char
Char Berens was called to heaven on 8/11/15. She was born on 1928 in Waterloo, IA. She met the love of her life, Jim Berens, in Rochester, MN, where they were married in 1950. She is survived by her children: Mary Ellen; Jay (Jan); Mike (Patty); Brian (Rita) and Steve; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Char leaves us all with a legacy of love for family and friends. To know Mom was to experience love, acceptance and encouragement of body, soul, and spirit. She was amazingly strong, faithful, prayerful, kind hearted, patient and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, music, reading gourmet cooking and a glass of wine. Mom saw to it that life was celebrated; so let's get on with it. A celebration of her life will be on Saturday 8/22/15 at 10AM at the Franciscan Renewal Center (Casa). Donations can be made to Huger Mercy Living Center or Hospice of the Valley. Tomorrow is another CHARdonnay!

To my dear, dear friend Char's family. I know how much you all miss her because I REALLY MISS her. Never a day goes by that I don't think about her.
These thoughts always put a smile on my face and a song in my heart. Char was definitely quite the lady and a forever friend never to be forgotten

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I so enjoyed doing your mother's hair for all those years. She was so special. Wish I could have been at the services. May God watch over all of you.

Although I did not really know your mother she and my mother became super close friends when they met at Huger Mercy Center. My mom always shared stories of Char and her. I knew they had become very close and were great support for one another during those trying & deeply sad & personal days. I believe they had a very special bond. I could always hear my mother over the telephone smiling when she would tell me of something they had laughed about, agreed on, or shared. We should feel comfort knowing they were two special ladies who helped one another in a very special way. It's beautiful knowing there's always a friend to be made but sometimes just footsteps apart. I am so happy they are two friends who bumped into one another. My mom will surely miss her as I know you all will, in ways we will never know but please smile when you read my words for it sounds like your mother was a beautiful person and a beautiful friend!!

To the family of my dear, Forever Friend Char. Your Mother was a very special lady. She will be missed by all of us. She and your Father are now together, probably dancing or at least holding hands and walking all over heaven. God's Blessings to all of you.
