Chester Dixon Obituary

Dixon, Chester
92, of Phoenix passed away on December 16, 2011. "Chet" was born in Springfield, Ohio to Chester Carl Dixon and Clara Belle Suiter. He served in the Civil Conservation Corps in Idaho during World War II. A long-time Phoenix resident, he worked as a truck driver for Hostess Baking Company for over 30 years and spent his retirement years delivering semis as a private contractor. He enjoyed fixing things and tinkering. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating, fishing and old cars. He took up flying in his 40's and enjoyed flying his Cessna for short hops to see the state, to California, and even back home to Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Martha Jeanne. He is survived by daughters Sharon Keefer and Anita Dixon and son, David Dixon (Cheryl Sprenger Dixon). He leaves behind two grandchildren, Chris Keefer (Brenda Cable Keefer) and McKenna L. Dixon and three great grand-children. He was a loving husband and father and we'll miss his smile and meeting him for a cup of coffee. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 W. Beardsley Rd, Phoenix. Remembrances may be sent to David Dixon, 24620 N 38th Lane, Glendale AZ 85310. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at Emeritus at Glendale for their loving care.
