Maas, Clifford William
Clifford W. Maas passed away at his home on Oct. 9, 2014. He was a spirited, fun-loving man who was deeply loved by all. He was known for his wit, affinity for beer, and love for his family. He was born Oct. 13, 1925 in Kohler Wisconsin. He left high school obtaining a GED to serve his country during World War II. He served as a Master Sergeant for the U.S. ARMY for 23 years, traveling all around the world. Clifford retired from the U.S. ARMY to Tempe Arizona in 1968, where he began to cultivate his passion for teaching and mentoring young people. He attended Arizona State University to become an elementary school teacher and earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in elementary education. He proudly served as a school teacher at Edison Elementary for 18 years, in Mesa AZ. Clifford is survived by his wife Patricia Maas; sons: Tim Maas, John Maas(Judi-Ann), Joseph Maas(Shelby), daughters: Karen Maas-Smith(Kelvin), Jaime Gonzales(Darrell). He has 7 grandchildren (Jessica Lovelace, Jonathan and Jeremy Maas, Alyse and Nicholas Smith, Kathryn and Kennedy Gonzales) and 2 great-grandchildren (Riley and Cooper Lovelace). Visitation will be held Thur. Oct. 16 from 5-7pm(Rosary begins at 7pm) at the Queen of Heaven Mortuary 1562 E. Baseline Rd Mesa AZ 85204. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am Fri. Oct 17 at St. Mary Magdalene Church 2654 E Williams Field Rd Gilbert AZ 85295. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HOSPICE of the SOUTHWEST 450 N Dobson Rd Ste. 108 Mesa AZ 85011
