Cody Bishop Obituary
Cody Thomas Bishop was born on April 12, 1992 and passed away on Sunday morning, May 9, 2010. He lived his short eighteen years in Tempe, Arizona. Cody was a graduating senior at Corona Del Sol High School and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He loved to cook and would spend most of his time inventing new recipes. Cody planned on attending culinary school and aspired to own his own restaurant. Cody is survived by his parents, Thomas and Lori; brothers, Michael and Joey; sisters, Brooke and Mandy; his nephew, Will his niece, Makayla; grandfather, Jerry Tuttle; grandmother Gertrude Bishop; his great-grandparents, Kenneth and Arlene Tuttle and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 14th with a viewing one hour prior at the Arizona Community Church, 9325 S. Rural Rd. in Tempe, AZ. For those who wish, memorial contribution may be made to the SADD (Students Against Drunk Drivers) at Coronal Del Sol High School. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary.

Cody, it's just one of those days when I can't stop thinking about you. Some days are worst than others, but for some reason, today is hitting me harder than usual. I keep trying to think of all of the good times we had. A lot of times this does the trick. Not today. I think I'll just go with it and be sad today.

As I was reading your Guest Book it just broke my heart. There is still good people out there that care about others. Just by simply saying good word in this moment that the whole family is going through, but God will always be there for your entire family. Cody you did not know me, but I do have a daughter your age my heart just broke into pieces. Cody just think that you have a lot of friends in this word. I didn't know your son, but after reading all of the entries, I understand Cody was an amazing child. I am so sorry your loss. I have a 15 year old son and I cannot imagine the pain you are suffering. May God be with you during this most difficult time and comfort you in the days ahead. Cody will never be forgotten.

You don't know me but I have a son who will be a senior in the fall. I don't know how I would possibly cope with his loss. My heart breaks for you and your family. My cousin was killed in a DUI accident. He was so young with 2 babies, one only 4 months old. HE was the drunk driver, it was hard enough losing him. Thank goodness our family didn't have to face a family like yours. Such a tragic sad story. When will people ever realize the consuquences of such stupid actions they choose to make? Although I do not know your family, our family shares in your pain. Your very simple entry to your son has brought me to tears and reminded me of when we first walked this path! We lost my husband's oldest son to a drunk driver in 2007. I don't think you ever stop the grieving, you just learn a new way of coping and "normal" takes a new light. We offer our deepest sympathy. When tragedy strikes and takes the life of our loved ones, many cry out with great sorrow. Your tears are not unnoticed by the Creator of Life. Never was it his purpose for our human lives to be taken away. Although your deep pain will not easily disappear, prayer to God will bring comfort to you as you grieve. The Bible assures us God "is healing the broken hearted ones, and is binding up their painful spot." Psalm 147:3. Romans 15:4 says, “All things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope.” We do receive comfort from the scriptures, but we also have to endure. It is so wonderful to know that Jehovah God remembers all who succumb to death, and promises that we will see our loved ones again. “The hour is coming in which all in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” John 5:28, 29. So God did not take your loved one. James 1:13 says with evil things God cannot be tried. You can be sure you will see him again. Our hearts and prayers are with the family.

I had a friend die similar to the way cody did. My friend ryan was driving with his best friend brad when their car got struck by a drunk driver. Ryan was in a coma for 9 days then passed away. Brad was in critical condition for 2 weeks but he made it. My heart goes out to you and just know that you arent the only ones going through this and you are not alone.

Everyday I past by the spot where Cody got in the accident and everyday there is a new group of people laying flowers and talking about their memories and stories of Cody! He was loved by so man people! Cody was my friend and no matter what it will stay that way..he will forever be in our hearts! I pray for the family and close friends and Marcos students send our love also! This was a tragedy and although we don't like it, it has taught so many students about drunk driving..so many students have pledged to stop drinking and a lot of people who do drink pledged not to EVER drink and drive! I live on Ray Road just yards aways from where this accident happened. Every day I see Cody's classmates, friends and family gathered around the makeshift memorial on Ray Road. I am heartbroken that this tragedy happened in our community. I am so sorry for this loss and I am praying for some kind of healing. I didn't know Cody at all, but I can tell by the dedication of those who gather that his spirit will live on.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Cody. But His brother Mike is a good friend to me, and I've learned much about him from the loving postings of his friends. There are no words adequate at a time like this. They say there is no greater loss than to lose your child and my heart goes out to Cody's parents, family and friends. I lost my 7 year old daughter in a similar manner to Cody's passing and my only advice is to not think beyond tomorrow right now. There are no answers to the question why. Its is a tragic tragic loss. We haven't stopped praying for your family since Mike gave us the news.
