Damon Lott Obituary

Damon Jeffrey Lott of Leeds, Utah, 24, passed away Monday, May 10, 2004 en route from Phoenix, Arizona to Carlsbad, California. He was born August 31, 1979 in Tucson, Arizona to Ben and Linda (Waltz) Lott. He spent his younger years in American Fork, Utah where his love of sports started, i.e., soccer, football, basketball, and track and field. In 1992, the family moved to Leeds, Utah where Damon attended Pineview Middle and High school. He graduated in 1997. His favorite sport was track and field in which he received All-State recognitions several times. He loved scouting and achieved his Eagle award while living in Leeds. He was called to serve an LDS Mission in Brazil Rebeirao Puerto, and served from September 1998 to October 2000. After returning home from his mission, he started Aviation School at Utah Valley State College, and also worked with his brother building swimming pools. Last fall, he moved to Phoenix to attend Pan Am Flight Academy. He had completed his private pilot licenses. He was on a route flight from Phoenix to Carlsbad when his twin engine plane went down, killing Damon and the other pilot. He loved to do repelling, wake boarding, snow boarding, camping, and anything fun and crazy, but mostly loved just hanging out with his family and his numerous friends. He loved the Gospel, being a missionary, and doing service for others. His dream has always been to fly, and he was anxious to complete his Commercial Pilot License. He is survived by his: parents, Ben and Linda; brothers and sisters, Kurt (Leslie) Lott, Jason (Jennifer) Lott, Tiffany (Brent) Hogan, Amber (Roy) Barker, and Brittany (Heath) Beckstead; nieces and nephews, Hunter, Cooper, Kelsie, Rachel, Brinlee, Austin, Katelyn, Keplar, Jamin, Stacia, and Danielle; and many extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his: brother, Troy Jamin Lott; and niece, Makaela Faith Barker. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Damon Lott - Dixie Dasher Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank. Damon,

I pray for your family, and their loss. I have never felt such a great sadness as I do right now. I only knew you a short time, but I feel like I have known you for years. I really miss you. I am grateful for all the love and happiness you showed towards me, and the great outlook you had on life. I have definitely learned from you, and feel like my life is better because of it. You always had a smile and a laugh. I wish I had known you longer, you have been a great friend and roommate. Your friends, that I know here, are just as great. You can tell a lot about a person by the company he keeps. I know you are in a better place now. God had a purpose for you here on earth and you touched a lot of people with your life. You will be greatly missed.

I will never forget you roomy.

Dear Lott Family,

My heart aches for you. I am so very sorry. I had the privelege to serve with Elder Lott in the Brazil Ribeirao Preto Mission, and as I'm sure you know already, he was a phenomenal missionary who always brightened the room with the light of his virtue and goodness. In January, my brother Nate Ballard returned to his Heavenly Father in the exact same way Damon has, so I know how very painful this is for you. At the same time, I know the Lord's richest blessings of comfort and peace will attend you as they have me and my family. What a tremendous honor it is to have our lives touched by people as incomparable and unforgettable as Damon. May the Lord bless you now and always to treasure not only your memories of him from this life, but the bright hope of your future with him in the eternities.

With much love and empathy,

Matthew Ballard

Damon,

We love you and will miss you. We have the memories of the ward talent show when you first came off of your mission and all the fun things you did with our family. As senseless as this event seems to us here, we know that the Lord has already put you to work, there. Your family and especially your nieces and nephews will miss your smile and the fun times you always had together.

Keep up the good work and we will see you on the other side.

Love and hugs, The Bolingbroke Family

Damon,

I remember the first time you came to our branch. Your testimony was so bright, as you walked up to the podium. When you began to bear your testimony it was evident you were a strong and special spirit. You have influenced my life in more ways than one. You were an excellent teacher and a great example. I treasure the time we had together and will forever miss you. Thanks for the great times and the great memories. You truly are one of the greatest people I will ever have the pleasure of meeting and getting to know. My life is honestly better because of you, thanks for all the love you showed me!! Love always~ Britt

Its hard to think that not to long ago you where here, but I know you are now where you are suppost to be. I keep thinking about the time when you told all of us that everything kept falling into place perfectly as you where preparing to move out to Arizona and you just knew that this was the right thing for you to do right now with your life. Its amazing how God works in our lives. You will be greatly missed by all of your friends and family who love you. Love your friend Brandy.
