Daniel Huettl Obituary

Huettl, Daniel Raymond
Dan Huettl, 55, of Gilbert, AZ, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. He was born in Garrison, North Dakota, on March 14, 1959, to LuVerne and Lorraine Huettl. Dan moved to the Phoenix area in 1968 with his mother and three of his siblings. He graduated from Cortez High School in 1977 and later from Arizona State University with Honors in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. As an ASU junior, Dan began an internship at Motorola which culminated in a 33.5 year career in the semiconductor industry. When Motorola sold off that sector, Dan stayed with the semiconductor group and became one of the original employees of ON Semiconductor, where he worked for the next fourteen years. At the time of his death, Dan was the Senior Director of the Small Signal Division and the SPG Automotive Task Force. Throughout his career, Dan enjoyed traveling internationally where he formed many friendships with colleagues from around the world. Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and time spent with his family. His favorite hobby was amateur Ham Radio. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, whom he married in 1992, and his two daughters, Jenny and Caitlyn, his siblings Vern Huettl, Patricia Burckhard (Alan), Alice Zeiszler (Gerald), Tom Huettl, Jeri Saenz (Gilbert), and Nina Huettl, his brother-in-law Stan Bird, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wanda Bird. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Jenny and Caitlyn's college fund at any Wells Fargo Bank under the name of "Daniel Huettl Memorial Fund". A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, January 25 at 2:30 pm at Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse, 1600 E. Lakeside Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85234. Dan's sense of humor, love for his family, work ethic, and loyalty will be greatly missed.

June 8, 2024

Hi,
My name is Joe Milburn. I was a friend of Dan back in his ASU days. We had electrical engineering classes together for several years. Dan and I lived in the Hayden Hall dorm, and were roommates our last 2 years in school. I always enjoyed Dan´s sense of humor, and appreciated that he was a serious student and really worked hard at his studies. It´s the first time I heard the phrase "Uff Da"! Dan used to say that a lot!
We kept in touch for several years after graduation, and I thought about him from time to time. I just Googled his name, and am sad to learn that he passed on over 9 years ago, but glad that he was surrounded by a loving family.
By the way, my family and I also live in Gilbert, AZ.
May God bless you all, and I hope Dan is doing some heavenly fishing!

Happy 65th Birthday, Dan! We will toast and celebrate you on this momentous occasion, and I know you too will be doing the same with our other family members who are with you. I continue to miss you and your beautiful smile, your wonderful sense of humor, your devotion to your family, and your strong work ethic. LOVE AND HUGS!

This has been a hard year for me. January I had my pacemaker updated and a new lead. April I had knee surgery. September I was told I shouldn´t be here anymore because I had a 95% blockage. So had a bypass surgery. After 3 months. I´m counting my blessings everyday.
Just think Dan I would be spending time with You,Mom,Wanda,Dad,andVern. I do really miss my calls with family.
God didn´t call me at this time.
I´m very happy to still be with my family. Gerald was my life saver.
He still remembers you when he taught you how to change oil.
Oh my had to buy oil all the way home.
Love you Dan.

The other day we were discussing promotions for customers and I thought of Dan. Dan always liked to jump in and give promotional giveaways to customers and laugh about how much business it brought us and how excited sales was to win. He would come to me and ask for "more ideas". I can't believe it has been 5 years.

Daddy, I miss you so much. I went to my friends wedding last night and had tears in my eyes as I watched her father escort her down the aisle. Watching them dance their Father/Daughter dance had me feeling so much hurt and pain knowing that we won't get to share that experience together in the future. I know you are in my heart, and watching from up above, but I sure do miss you every single day and wish that you were here to see the woman that I have become. I love you. Always.

Missed you today at the annual Huettl's Christmas Extravaganza. I know it was you who made me win 6-5-4 twice. Missing all of our Christmas memories me and you have made together like singing Xmas songs on the quad at the cabin one time when it was snowing and also waking up to you hollering upstairs for us to wake up and see what Santa brought.
It's my second Christmas without you and I'm missing you lots daddy. Hoping you're having a jolly Christmas up in Heaven with Grandma and Grandpa Huettl and Aunty Wanda.
Love you lots dad.
Lovies,

This is a difficult day for all of us, Dan! It is a cloudy, very gloomy day as we remember the calls and then rushing to the Trauma Center, where you left us exactly one year ago. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and remember your beautiful smile, your sense of humor, your quiet voice as you called at noon that day. Alan and I speak of you often, and we continue to miss you terribly. Rest in peace, Dan, and hugs to Mom, Dad, Wanda, and baby sister.

Also, just one question: what did you think of ASU's win over UCLA in the ROSE BOWL last Saturday, and Jenny and the ASU Marching Band receiving the game ball?

Don't know what to write. Everyone has said it so well. Dan was at my wedding also. At age 7, wearing his blue jacket, he said his coat matched the Air Force colors, and he liked to stand with the tall Air Force man.
He was a good student. I answered questions about radio, and he became interested in Ham Radio.
Some think that turned him toward electronics at ASU.
We had good times together, and often we competed on the air.
Such a shock.
73s Dan.
You were always the best.

January 27, 2015

Elaine, Jenny, Caitlyn and families,

Words can't express how sorry I was to hear of Dan's passing.

Dan was my dear friend and he was one of the kindest, most gracious individuals I have ever met. He and I met when Bryan Wilky (Dan's rommate at the time) introduced us over 35 years ago at ASU. After Bryan graduated, Dan and I were then roommates during our senior year. We gave each other grief and loved every minute of it!

Susanne and I will forever remember Dan being part of our Wedding in New Orleans and the many laughs we all had together. We treasure the memories.

Farwell Dan, my good friend. You've been an inspiration to me and many.

Dear Family of Dan,
I'll always remember him as "Danny" the precious little young man as the ring bearer at our wedding over 51 years ago. Who knows, maybe him and Gordon have met up with each other in heaven and are reminiscing about that day!

May God give you new hope and strength as you cope with your great loss.

Uncs, I love and miss you. In the picture you were 'making' me smile. But you always made me smile by just being with you. Gatherings were always better with Uncle Dan. I remember the several week long Risk games you, Uncle Alan, Uncle Tom would play, the insistence of playing 654, the 'icky' science sets you got Liam, how thoughtful you were for always remembering birthdays. Thank you for 'rescuing' me and allowing a flakey teenager to live with you for a bit. I will always appreciate you. Our gatherings will never be the same, our lives will never be the same, the void is too much to bear right now. Our family was blessed to have you.

At age of 4 Dan lost our loving father to heart disease. Dan's sense of humor and intelligence was noticeable, very early in his life. He was reading before he started school. At age of 11, he became the man of the house. I remember him being financially stable by age of 26. I call that wise beyond his years. I was so proud of you Dan. Over the years we got busy in our own life's...but we rarely missed gathering opportunities, the games of 654....the little nephews liking Caitlyn and Jenny and you getting a big kick out of it. I was blessed to have you in my life.

January 20, 2015

I had only worked with Dan for a couple years but he was always proud to discuss what he was working on and the accomplishments he, his team, and ON had achieved. Dan never stole the show and always shined light on his team and their contributions. Dan was never happier though than when he was talking about his family. I heard weekly updates about what his daughters were up to. Dan was a great man to work with but was a very proud father. It was obvious his love for his family ran deep.
