David Nuanez Obituary

Nuanez, David Ray
David Ray Nuanez returned home to God, our Father, on December 14, 2016. His courage, wit, and grace during his battle with cancer was indicative of the life he led. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, and coach. His journey through this life is highlighted by his unique sense of humor, his genuine love of people, generosity, and his faith. He is survived by his loving wife, Annette, his children Nicole, Monique (Albert), David II (Selina), Chaz, his father, Ralph Sr. and his mother Mercy, his brother Ralph (Martha), sisters Monica (Ron) and Loraine (Bill), seven grandchildren, Adrian, Daniel, Jazmine, Lil' Al, Aida, Katelyn and Sebastian. Godchildren include Bobby, Jacob, Juan, Mychal, Rachelle, and numerous nieces and nephews. A dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service and avid sports fan, David's loving influence will forever live on in the hearts of the many lives he touched. A Rosary will be held at 10:30 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 N. 24th Street, Phoenix. Interment will follow at St Francis Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home.

Annette, Monica, and all the Nuanez and Rodriguez families: My deepest sympathy for the loss of your beloved husband, son, daddy, brother, Tata, Tio, Nino, and friend. David was a loving, giving, and selfless man with a huge heart. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) Well done, good and faithful servant. His absence leaves a giant void. May all your beautiful memories sustain you in your most difficult times. He leaves behind a loving legacy and a proud family. You all remain in my thoughts and prayers. Love and Blessings.

I'll never forget in 1973 when David scored 6 (SIX!) touchdowns in one game, a JV game against Gerard ( S.M. won 44-18) He wasn't built at all like a football player but after this, obviously coach Lavin knew he belonged on the varsity. The rest was history.
