David Paul Obituary

Paul, Lt. David M.
74, San Tan Valley/Payson, AZ passed away on July 21, 2014. David was born in 1940 to the late Myron Hazen and Helen Ballard Paul in Spencer, IA. David is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Ann; his children, Thea Hansen (Pete), David Paul (Terri), Margie Scholler, Dana Paul, Debbie Lombardo (Chris), and Kari Krecklow (Randy); grandchildren, Whitney (Mike), Peter (Amanda), David Ryan, Jared, Jacob, Courtney, Ricki, Tailor, Melissa (Nate), Kristi (Nick), Kayla, and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Devin, Sawyer, Gracie, Stella, Rylee, Brady, Aubree, Logan and Londyn; brothers, Paul (Mitzi), Steve (Hope), and Tim (Pam) and many nieces/nephews and cousins. David's life was dedicated to protecting others. He served in the US Army from 1957 - 1961. After 23 years of service he retired as Lieutenant for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. He and Ann traveled a few years and then he went back to work as a Payson Police Officer, where he served an additional 10 years. Including reserve time, he spent 43 years in law enforcement. David loved spending time with family, traveling, and spending summers in Montana fly fishing with his Idaho/Montana family. He sincerely cared about everyone he came in contact with. This, combined with his many interests and hobbies, meant he could not go anywhere without running into someone he knew. Even when faced with life's challenges, David's smile, sense of humor, and love for life were apparent, and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. You're 10-7 beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and Officer. You have left a mark that will forever remain in our hearts. Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday August 9th, at Matazal Hotel & Casino Payson, AZ. Donations can be made in his name to the National Parkinson's Foundation Gift Processing Center, Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018

A year ago today we lost you. You were a very special man that was loved and respected by your family, friends and coworkers. I appreciate how you were always there to help anyone, anytime. I am grateful for you being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
I miss your laugh and your smile, but mostly I just miss YOU.
I want to thank you for everything you did for me and for being a wonderful, caring and loving father.

I'm so thankful for the many years I had the most amazing man as my grandfather! Then to see how much my kids adored him as well was so special. The way Grandpa's eyes lit up at the site of his great-grandchildren will forever be one of my favorite memories. I would give anything to have one more day with him or even to hear just one more of his jokes. He will forever be missed.

Grandpa this world is so much better for having had you in it. There is not a day that goes by that we don't smile because of a memory that you were a part of. Your smile, laugh and sense of humor will be missed so much by so many. Thank you for being the best grandpa and great grandpa we could've ever asked for. We love you always.
