David Shughart Obituary

David S. Shughart II died on September 8, 2008 in Flagstaff Arizona in the
presence of his loving wife, Rosie, after a lengthy battle with esophageal cancer. Dave was born on May 1, 1943 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, to his mother and father, Marie and David  Shughart. He and his brother Greg, spent their younger years in Michigan and Pennsylvania. He graduated from Clawson High School in Warren, Michigan in 1962, having excelled in football, basketball and track and field. After a year in Europe with his family, he graduated from Tulane University in 1966 and obtained his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1970. Dave began his legal career as a lawyer for the Securities Exchange Commission in Washington D.C. and subsequently in Los Angeles, California. After his first wife, Susan, preceded him in death in 1974., he moved to Arizona and worked in private practice in Arizona, mostly as a sole practitioner. Dave is survived by his mother, wife, Rosie, five children (and their spouses); David III (Cindy), Jason (Charyece), Brooks (Sarah), Jordan (Jason), and Jarrett. Dave is also survived by seven grandchildren (Brice, Anna, William, Isabel, Kurtis, Kristy, and Nicole) and many wonderful family and friends, the Rockrichs, the Ormands, the Beals, (Mona), the Devereuxs, the Mittens and too many others to list. Dave lived a full and adventurous life. He deeply loved and was deeply loved by those close to him. He was one of a kind, and will be missed and remembered with cherished thoughts of many wonderful times. Please join us for a casual celebration of David's life on September 20, 2008, at 3:00p.m. in Flagstaff. Contact family or friends for directions. Be sure to bring David stories. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Olivia White Hospice Home in care of Northland Hospice PO Box 997, Flagstaff, AZ 86002.
