Donald Brunk Obituary

Brunk, Donald
87, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on February 8, 2015. Donald was born on March 11, 1927 in Bunker Hill Missouri to John S. and Nellie O. Brunk, they moved to Iowa when he was 3 weeks old. The second of four children, he was raised in Monterey Iowa and graduated from Bloomfield High school in 1944. Donald entered the Navy at the end of WWII. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1948 attending on a GI Bill. He also obtained his pilot's license. After college he spent a short time in Chicago and a month touring Mexico with a college roommate. He then decided to head to California to attend law school but after stopping in Phoenix to visit his family that had relocated, he never left. He joined the auction business with his father, mother and brother becoming John Brunk and Son's Auction. He continued as an auctioneer in the same location, 4001 N. 7th St., for 51 years, retiring in 2002 at the age of 75. Donald was a great story teller and loved to make you laugh with his stories, poems and songs. Donald is predeceased by his parents and older brother John J. Brunk. Donald is survived by his sister Ione Leyda, his brother Ronald Brunk, daughter Elizabeth Jobusch (Jim) and grandson JT Jobusch (Sara). There are no services at his request. If you would like, donations can be made to the 100 Club or your favorite charity.
