Donald Palmer Obituary

Palmer, Donald "Don" L
On Saturday, 6th of September 2014, Donald L. Palmer passed away at Sherman Home, Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 78. Born on Friday the 13, to Ralph and Iva Palmer in Wichita Kansas, he had younger twin brothers born on the same day, six years later. After graduating from Wichita State, with a degree in aeronautical engineering, he met and married the love of his life Mary Ann. They remained devoted to each other for the last 54 years of his life. Following their move to Scottsdale Arizona, Don began working at the company that would eventually become Allied Signal. During his 37 years of service to the company, Don helped design many of the turbine engines used throughout the aeronautical industry and was named in numerous patents including 12 he penned himself. His technical knowledge was in such demand that he continued to consult in the industry until 18 months before his passing. During his life he also designed and built the house in Cave Creek where his beloved Mary still resides. An avid hiker, Don and Mary spent many hours hiking through the hills of southwestern United States. Don is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Richard, and Ken. His wife Mary Ann, his brother Keith, his sister in law Nema, his two sons, Phil and Tim, his daughter in law Michele, and his four grandchildren survive him. Memorial services are to be held Saturday at 10:00 AM, September 27, 2014 at Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale Arizona. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite regional park foundations.
