Dorothea Higgins Obituary

Dorothea Theresa Higgins, former resident of Phoenix, NY and Phoenix, AZ, died July 5, 2005 at her home in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her six children, Lorraine (Michael) Patterson, Stephen (Kayutah) Higgins, Nanette (Rand) Hubbell, Kathleen (Lou) Apodaca, Virginia (Jeffrey) Kerr and Michael Higgins; six grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Sasha, Adam, Katie and Taylor; her brother Joe (Millie) Selinsky, her sister Elaine Fairfield, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born in Liverpool, NY in 1930 and graduated from Phoenix (NY) High School in 1948. In 1969 she moved to Phoenix, AZ where she worked for Neb's Market before relocating in 1989 to Albuquerque where she worked for SunWest Bank and Zia Trust. She leaves behind a loving family, many friends who saw her as a comfort, and friends and acquaintances all across America. Dorothea loved to see her patio filled with flowers and hummingbirds. She asks that you plant a flower or feed a hummingbird in her memory. The family would like to give special thanks to Lovelace Sandia Hospice, especially Leann Vincent, and Dr. James K. Poliner, Pulmonary Specialist at Lovelace Medical Center, Albuquerque. A Memorial Service will be held for Dorothea on Sunday, July 10 at 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
