Douglas Main Obituary

Douglas Eugene Main - Age 52, of Phoenix, AZ, received his wings and flew home on Friday, June 8, 2007. Born in Muncie, IN, October 2, 1954, he was the son of Bobby and Lillian Main. In 1968 the family transplanted to Phoenix and later Buckeye where he was a graduate of Buckeye Union High School's Class of 1972. Due to his humor and kindness, he has amassed countless friends. Known for his grand stature and even larger heart, he was always there to bring a smile to one's face. The man respectfully regarded by his children and their friends as "Big Poppa", was a mentor and father figure to many beyond the limits of his own roof. In addition to his father, he is survived by his children Douglas II, Andrew, and Aleasha, as well as his siblings Steve Main, Greg (Melinda) Main, Cindy (Byron) King, and Randy (Martha) Main. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 9:00am at the VCFNP, 6250 W. Peoria, Glendale, AZ.

No one said I couldn't leave more than one message and I'm sure Doug will appreciate it. Just wanted to say hello to you, and your family. Some of my best, craziest and funniest memories of my entire life are memories of you. You were always super cool, I hope everyone appreciates that.

I may be a bit late here, and I apologize to Doug for that. I met Doug around 1977, possibly on Halloween. from that day forward, Doug was as close a friend as I have ever known and always will be. He was funny, clever and loyal. He is my brother. I think of him daily and miss his booming voice. Save me a seat.

Doug,
Thank you for being the man I always knew you were. We had our hard times which blinded both of us to the good things that others saw in us. The one thing that I wanted most in life other than our kids, was to be able to say they have a great dad. Now I can.... I'm proud to have been your wife and mother of your kids.
I will always love you.

ohh daddy...
how am I supposed to say goodbye to you so soon and suddenly? you were not only my father, but also my friend. what I would give to have one last converstaion, one last phone call, one last hug, and one last memory with you. it's all still surreal, and I am still waiting for your call. I love you dad and I always will. I hope I continue to make you proud. I know that you are in God's hands and resting peacefully, and that brings me peace. I love you dad, and miss you already.
