As a young adult on my own after graduating from high school in 1968, I went to junior college and tried various jobs before landing at the Arizona State Hospital as a newbie "Mental Health Worker." I was assigned to the graveyard shift, which was very difficult for me ... I drank a lot of coffee and Coca-Cola and at a LOT of candy and sugary chewing gum in an effort to stay awake overnight. Well, you can imagine the effect that had on my TEETH. One night at work, I had a terrible toothache and had to call the R.N. on duty for pain relief. The next day, I called my old pediatric dentist who told me I was too old for his practice and referred me to my first grown-up dentist, Dr. Gledhill. That painful molar was so badly decayed that Dr. G. had to pull it - I was there after hours because it was not cooperating - it became famous in the lore of Dr. Gledhill as "the one I had to swing on" to get it out! That was the beginning of a long series of dental repairs - crowns and fillings - over the next year. I loved the smell of the soap he washed his hands with before beginning work, and loved his wonderful staff, Nurse Norma, and his great hygienist, Carol, all who retired together and invited us patients to come celebrate with them. I was so sad to lose their professional care, but if anyone had earned their retirement, that group surely did! I was cleaning out my desk today and found his old business card from Realty World, where he had begun a new career in real estate after retiring from dentistry due to arthritis in his hands. I knew he must be gone to heaven by now, but hadn't seen this obituary. Dr. Gledhill, I hope you are enjoying a beautiful day of golf in the rolling green hills of the great beyond, and that all that was lost has been restored to you in the love of God. It would be a great joy to see you again someday when our heavenly father calls me home. Wishing joy and happy memories to your family and all who knew and loved you!

Cynthia and family:
Our sincere condolences in the passing of Paul. We know that he has had a long battle with his health as of late and are happy that he is now at peace.
We feel blessed that we got to know him and have fond memories of some special times that we have shared over the years....camping, boating, ASU games, dinners, New Years Day Parade & ASU Rose Bowl game... etc. ... may all those fun times help you get through the tough times.
Hugs and kisses to you.
Sorry we were out of town and unable to attend his services.
Would love to see you soon.
Our love to you.
