Earl W. Goodwin

Earl W. Goodwin, 79, of Surprise, AZ passed away December 23, 2007 at his home. He was born February 1, 1928 in Elmira, New York to Godfrey & Cora Goodwin. Earl was a military policeman in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict; he was also a professional baseball player with the Philadelphia Philly's Organization. Earl graduated from Southside High School in Elmira, NY and was a member of the Sports Hall of Fame in Elmira for baseball. After his retirement as a facilities engineer in 1988 Earl and his wife Betty moved to Arizona from Hammondsport, NY where he was an avid golfer, 2 time president of Sun Village men's golf club, and was a 2 time men's golf club champion - Sun Village. Earl is survived by his loving wife Betty; daughter Janet M. Goodwin of NY; son Mark T. Goodwin (Lynn) of NY; grandson's Cody W. Goodwin and Eric T. Goodwin; and sisters Doris Elliott of NY and Margaret Patterson of NY. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 2:00 PM with a gathering to follow until 4:00 PM at Sun Village - Multipurpose Room 17300 N. Sun Village Pkwy Surprise, AZ 85374. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Arizona 2222 W. Northern Ave., #A100, Phoenix, AZ 85021.
