Dear Dr Diethrich, Thank you for using the drive, intelligence, and humanitarianism GOD gave you, to help people like me at AHI. I had a double arterial blockage that would have been impossible except for the skills, innovative thinking, and research that GOD made available to me in 2005. HE saved my life through your work, and willingness to teach other great surgeons who learned from you. Richard V Peninger

Dr. Diethrich was the best doctor I had the privilege of working with. He never gave up on a patient, was always willing to go that extra mile. He will truly be missed.

I served as pilot and video engineer for his organization for 10 years. His videos showed a master at work. If anybody were to cut on my heart, it would have been him.

As a patient of Dr. Diethrich years back, he came into the waiting room where patients sat between tests. Beside me sat a very very elderly Native American woman, she spoke no English, her Granddaughter was with her to translate. Without hesitation Dr. Diethrich knelt down on the floor beside the elder woman, took her hand in his, looked into her eyes and smiled, proceeding to speak to her as if she understood each word, while her granddaughter translated. The elder woman was so taken at his humility and kindness as she smiled a tear ran from her eye. Dr. Diethrich simple reached for a tissue on the nearby table and wiped the woman's tear, ever so caring, reassuring her everything would be just fine. Dr. D was indeed a man of many gifts which he gladly shared

How can one even begin to describe Dr. Diethrich in this small space. He was obviously an extremely gifted surgeon and a pioneer in the field of cardiology, but he also possessed a bedside manner that was second to no other physician. Following my heart attack and angioplasty, Dr. Ted provided me with the best advise I have ever received. My twin sons were only 12 years old at this point and I was and still am very actively involved in their lives: coaching, mentoring, etc. He stated to me, Eric, we know what the situation with your heart is and he advised me to simply "go live your life, and do not dwell on your condition, I will do that for you." His advise was priceless, thoughtful and very reassuring. I have thanked him numerous times for his insightful and caring approach, but I want to take this opportunity to thank him one last heart felt time. Rest in peace, sir, you have truly earned it. God bless you and your family.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Eric Wilson

Dr. "Ted" saved my life twice. The first time was 1989. Angioplasty didn't work so he introduced me to Dr. Richard Schatz, the inventor of the Stent! whom he brought to the Heart Institute. I was one of the first "trial" recipients of this new procedure and it worked. In 2007 he again was responsible for saving my life with a by-pass procedure performed by another brilliant doctor named Dr. Marwan Ghazoul whom he brought to the Institute. Anytime I saw and talked with him I thanked him over and over again for his foresight and his gift and his promise to discover. Thank you Dr. Ted.
