Edward Snider Obituary

Edward H. Snider, 61, of Mesa, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away in his home among family and friends on Sept. 21, 2006. Ed was born on May 13, 1945 in Palo Alto, Calif., lived in East St. Louis until 1959 then moved to Phx. He fought a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Laughter, Positive Attitude (there is always an up-side in every situation) and Love defines Ed Snider. In every cloud Ed found the silver lining and the sunshine. Ed was married 40 years to Sue, the love of his life. Ed, Sue and their son Jim enjoyed the great outdoors. Now that passion is being continued through Jim, wife Amber and grandson Maverick. Ed was a life-long teacher, starting at Mesa High School and then Mesa Community College. His passion was for teaching and seeing the students' faces light up as they succeeded both in their academic and personal lives. Teaching was not what he did, teaching is the epitome of who he was. He was a friend to everyone and everyone was Ed's friend. He is well loved by all his family, friends, colleagues, students and will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at Mesa Community College, 1833 W. Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ. in the Kirk Center Navajo Room on Friday Sept. 29, 2006 at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edward H. Snider Memorial Scholarship Fund. Make checks payable to the Maricopa Colleges Foundation and send to Mesa Community College Development Office.

We are so fortunate to have been touched in one way or another by Ed. He has taught and mentored so many people that his life will continue through them. Ed, thank you for all that you have given to those around you. Sue, may peace be with you and your family as you endure your loss.

Ed,
You, Sue and Jim were like a second family to me. You took me under your wing while at MCC and I will always appreciate that! When asked how I could ever repay you for your kindness and generousity, you simply said "Repay me by doing the same for others, when you can"...(always a teacher). I will never forget those outdoor adventures and camping trips, (especially what ended up in the eggs the next morning from the night before!). Your sense of humor, wryly smile and warm heart shall be forever missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
