Elaine Barr Obituary
July 18, 1949 - December 22, 2010. Elaine Barr, age 61 of College Station, Texas and Scottsdale, Arizona passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Bryan, Texas. A visitation to receive friends and family will be Monday, December 27, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Hillier Funeral Home. Memorial services will be Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Hillier Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Aggie Field of Honor Cemetery in College Station, Texas. Elaine was born to Elmer and Eva (Janssen) Gramberg in Enid, Oklahoma. She married Robert D. "Danny" Barr, Col. (Ret.) USAF, on June 18, 1968 in Bryan, Texas. Elaine was a wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joys were caring for her family. She is survived by her husband Danny Barr and two sons Rob and Molly Barr of Pearland, Texas and John and Laura Barr of Allen, Texas. She leaves behind her six grandchildren Coale, Jack, Joey, Tate, Will and Anna who lovingly call her Lainie. She also leaves behind a sister Eva Maddox of the Virgin Islands and was preceded in death by her parents and brother Edwin Gramberg.

Dear Danny and Family,
Elaine was, and will always be in our hearts and memories. When I think of Elaine I remember the kind, warm, smiling, and most helpful friend that she was during our 20 years in Virginia. Missing a few "domestic" genes, Elaine helped me fill in that void that I had to the "delight" of my "Let's invest the money instead" beloved husband Jack.
We celebrated New Year's eve many times at our home with Elaine, Johnny and Rob. The boys and our daughter, Stephanie, brought in the New Year with the spreading of confetti thru out the house. Years later we continued
to find confetti from those joyful evenings.

Danny: Joe and I were sadden by the tragidy of the loss of Elaine. She was a wonderful person. We have wonderful memories of a January 1, a long time ago, when you and Elaine opened up your home to us in California so that I could visit with you mom and dad from Atlanta. I was so homesick and Elaine sinced that and immediately took care of me. I always loved her for that.

Elaine and I were friends a long time ago when we were young moms and our boys (men now) were little elementary kids at Francis T Evans school. It's times like these when we are all looking for words which could adequately express such a loss. Danny, we don't have them, I confess.
In the course of Christmas Eve last night, Jack, Stephanie and I returned in thought and happy times in Virginia, when Elaine was my right hand in putting the New Year Eve festivities together and young Rob, John, and Stephanie threw their own confetti party. Years later I still found confetti in the chairs and sofa. There were many wonderful moments like this one; and eventually we had somewhat of a smile on our faces.
I spoke with my sister Helene in Germany this morning, and she brought back memories from Christmases past and your visit with Elaine. She sends her love.
To all of you our deepest sympathy. Elaine with her loving, kind, and quiet mannere will always have a warm spot in our hearts.
