Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Eleanor (Ellie) Chalfin passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on January 13, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Gilbert Chalfin, her two sons, Bill Chalfin and Bradley Chalfin (Sallie), and one daughter Carren Navin. She will be greatly missed by her 7 grandchildren Tyler Chalfin, Amber Chalfin, Anthony Enrico, Marlo Enrico, Samantha Navin, Nicolette Navin, and Isabelle Navin. Eleanor was born on October 31, 1934, in Queens, NY, to John and Margarette Wilson. In 1951, she married Gilbert Chalfin and eventually moved to Long Island, NY, to raise their family. In 1979, she made AZ her new home. She loved traveling with Gil, and together they shared many memorable cruises and vacations around the world. Ellie, as she was known by her family and friends, had a passion for sports and would never miss her favorite team the fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Quick witted and often referred to as a firecracker, she would always give you the honest truth whether you wanted to hear it or not. She will be so greatly missed although her spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16th @ 6:00.
