Elizabeth Knoell Obituary

Knoell, Elizabeth "Betsy" Nehf Madison
Elizabeth "Betsy" Nehf Madison Knoell, July 19, 1920 - December 14, 2013. Born in Boston, MA to Arthur and Elizabeth Nehf. She was preceded in death by brothers Art and Dan Nehf and husband Gray Madison. They raised four children Dan Madison (Kathy), Cindy McCharen (Johnny), Gray Madison, Jr. and Bruce Madison. She later married Hugh Knoell, Sr. and they enjoyed 30 happy years together up until his death in August of 2013. Betsy represented the Thunderbirds as the Fiesta Queen, was a New York Powers model and a buyer for Phoenix Goldwater Department Store. Betsy loved her involvement with the early days of Phoenix Jr. League and St. Luke's Board of Visitors. She leaves a legacy of a life well lived and a family that aspires to follow her example for grace, dignity, humor and a special love for the many friends that went before her. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, twin nephews and a niece. Her life will be celebrated in a private family service and celebration. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phx., AZ 85014.
