Emily Benson Obituary

Emily Marie Benson, 14, went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Friday, May 16, 2003. Emily, who brought so much happiness and love to all of those she touched, was a freshman at Sinagua High School. She was born Sept. 6, 1988, in Flagstaff. One of the many accomplishments in her life included earning her first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do in April 2002. Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Valerie and Mark Caro of Flagstaff; her father and stepmother, Stacy and Liz Benson of Phoenix; sisters Amanda and Malinda Caro and Madison and Savanna Benson; grandparents Joe and Liz Haughey, Bob and Patti Benson, John and Helen Caro and Kathy and Bill Norman; great-grandparents Gram and Grandma Shirley and Nano and Papo; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial service celebrating Emily's life will be Friday, May 23, at 11 a.m. at Church of the Epiphany, 423 N. Beaver. After the service, the family will gather at the Caro home, 6955 E. Old Walnut Canyon, to share memories of Emily. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to one of Emily's favorite places - the Phoenix Zoo, in loving memory of Miss Emily Benson.
