Fred Joncas Obituary

Fred (Freddy the Cleaner) Marshall Joncas, 81, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away on April 20, 2006, following a brief illness, at home with his family by his side.  He was born on December 16, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan to Alexis and Lillian Joncas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Alexander and an infant son. Fred is survived by the love of his life for 61 years, Lilian Joncas, daughter Valerie Arendell and husband Phil of Springfield, Missouri; two sons Alex Joncas of Phoenix, Arizona; Fred Joncas  and wife Valerie of Brighton, Michigan; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Fred served in the United States Army Air Force as a T. Sgt. Radio Operator aboard military aircraft including the "Alles Kaput." His contributions during the war were noted in the fall 1996 edition of the America Aviation Historical Society Journal. After the military Fred and Lilian raised their family in Detroit.  He worked as a Detroit Policeman before owning and operating Carousel Cleaners and Flair Cleaners in Detroit and Farmington Hills.  After retirement Fred and Lilian lived in San Diego, California for 17 years.  Recently joining their daughter and son-in-law in moving to Springfield (Ozark) Missouri. Dad was a very special person.  He was a devoted husband, supportive father and father-in-law, proud grandfather and great-grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. At his request no services are to be held, and his body was donated to the University of Missouri Medical School.  A celebration of his life will be held in June.  The family expresses sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of Cox Hospital and to the Hospice Foundation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in his memory to your local Hospice Foundation or your favorite charity.

Dear Lilian,

Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Fred was a strong and wise man. It was such a comfort having him upstairs from us at the condo, he always had a friendly "hello" and a wave for us.

We can't drive by the condo without looking for him on "his" porch.

We will remember him always. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Please accept my sympathy in your hour of bereavement. Dedicated, hardworking family men often seem to be a thing of days long gone, but despite this difficult time, may your loving memories and the Bible based hope of the resurrection (John 5:28) sustain you for now.
