Gary Sundberg. 71, of Peoria, passed away Nov. 25, 2014. He was born in Alta, Iowa. He is survived by his wife and best friend Mary, son Brett (South Dakota), loyal canine companion, Kelly; a brother, Kenneth (Marge), sisters Diane Schramm (Roger), and Sandra Hogrefe (Randy). He was preceded in death by parents, John and Lucille, siblings Elaine, Robert, Darlene, Eldon, and Ronald, and mother-in-law, Angie. He is further survived by special in-laws Gene Messer (Judi), and Dodi Messer, his Alta '62 HS Classmates, especially John Soderquist, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, cherished friends, and wonderful neighbors. He will be remembered with love and affection as an Army Veteran, who served as a Medic in Vietnam; as a Volunteer Fire Dept EMT (South Dakota); as an ICU nurse for over 35 years at the Phoenix VA Hospital; and as a man who had a 52 yr love affair with anything Pontiac. He served on the National POCI Board, Judged at the National Conventions, and also served for 17 yrs as Treasurer of the Local Chapter. Memorial Service will be at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W Thunderbird Rd, Peoria, on Monday, Dec. 15th from 6PM-8PM with Service beginning at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the AZ Humane Society (9226 N 13th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85021) or the Pontiac Oakland Museum (205 N. Mill St., Pontiac, IL 61764) in memory of Gary.
