Addair, George Washington Jr.
80, of Phoenix passed away on June 28, 2012. George was the Founder of the Omega Vector. Through Omega, the contribution George made to Humanity is immeasurable. He was a loving Father, Grandpa & Great Grandpa as well as the most compassionate and dedicated Human Being I have ever known. George used to say, "Rather than teach people how to live, I would rather teach people how to die." Children: David Addair, Kathy Addair, Jon Addair, Mark Addair, Grandchildren: Miranda Addair, Leah Hairston, Vanessa Bettis, Brittany Addair, Paul Addair, Logan Addair. Great Grandchildren: Mckenzie, Lori, Marcellus, Aysiah, Abigail United States Air Force serving in the Korean War.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 5pm - 9pm

I think of George so often but never thought to look at an obituary. Especially one from 2012. And just last month, I was packing up books and one fell on my head. It was from George Addair and it was titled "things I wish to tell you," and inside were blank pages. I´ve carried this book around with me since the 1990s as it was one of his gifts, not to me, but to ALL of us in the lecture room that night. A few years ago, I had to downsize my office and had piles of tape cassettes of his lectures and notebooks full of outlines of points in his lectures that he would amplify. I couldn´t bear to throw it away so I donated to local goodwill. Omega vector 1 and 2 also changed me and while I never knew George personally-I shook his hand after class like everyone else- his teachings were so pure, so authentic, so "transmitted," I don´t see how anyone could not be affected and transformed by such love.

George Addair changed the whole direction of my life when I turned about 50 years. I was a lost soul after leaving seminary, and George introduced me to the Gurdjieff work, at the perfect time in my life. I
attended all the Omega and Delta Vectors seminars with him at the helm. I have found peace and direction through George. I miss him.

I just received a reminder on Georges passing and was asked to share more what George and I connected. It would be easy to write an entire book about this, because even though George and I met only for a short while, I knew and heard about his work many years prior. His knowledge and understanding had a profound impact on my life and still does.
I catch myself frequently mention George in my conversations, as I am constantly reminded of his presence.

There were three people that profoundly impacted the trajectory of my life. Their impact was so deep, it is impossible to talk about my experiences, without mentioning them.

My life was and is an incredible adventure. This being said, I wished and prayed for everything Ive got when I was a little child. Thus, I have no regrets. This being said, these three teachers I had the privilege to be mentored by, were elementary to guide my way through some dangerous paths. They are the reason why I am still breathing today.

George was one of them.
Bruce Lee once said: The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.
As for me, George epitomizes this quote.

I am grateful beyond words to have not only attended, Omega Vector 1 & 2 but to have met and listened to George.

This set in motion a discovery and love of self, that I couldn't know existed before OV.

We don't choose our origin, and sometimes our choices are taken from us through circumstances imposed by others.

Not sure why I was brought to a place that allowed me this opportunity, but in service to others is how I'm happiest.

I'm so very late in this "thank you". I attended Omega Vector in 1984 and was part of first Omega test in 1985. George was one of my clients and rented office space from me while I was with Regus before I moved back to San Francisco. I can't even express how much George changed my life by making me realize that I'm responsible for everything that happens in it. Today I ran into a stranger who looked so much like George that I had goosebumps. Perhaps it was George saying, "you're welcome".

Everything You Have Ever Wanted Is On The Other Side Of Fear George Addair

Today, on his birthday, I reflect on the life of a man who changed my life. I believe him to be one of the greatest spiritual leaders of the last 35 years. Humble and selfless, he would never consider himself great beyond any other person, he believed he was just like all of us. His teachings will not be found bound in a bunch of books, they are found in the hearts of those that have had the honor to be exposed to his wisdom.

You see, this man did not teach or lead for fortune or fame. As a matter of fact, this man gave everything he had to an organization he founded in 1978 that was built on the foundation, that one of the elements of our growth and survival, like the air we breathe and the water we drink, is Self-Knowledge. Just like those basic elements, Self-Knowledge should be available without charge. True Self-Knowledge should not be a commodity; it should be available to whoever seeks to find it. He built Self-Knowledge programs for those that wish to live more effective lives. Available to anyone and everyone without charge or expectation.

The quote above is from this man, his name is George Addair. Listed as number 43 on the Forbes Top 100 Inspirational Quotes, right between Theodore Roosevelt and Plato, Everything You Have Ever Wanted Is On The Other Side Of Fear, represents the growth of the human spirit. All growth in our lives is represented by movement and as we take our steps forward in life it is into a moment that we have never been in before. It is into the unknown. As we step into the unknown, the greater the step, the greater the fear. If you haven't achieved what you want, you need to do something different. Change.

Since 1978, his organization, Omega Vector (aka Delta Vector in the mid-nineties): his dream and his spirit has continued to enhance and contribute to mankind. There are no employees of this organization, no paychecks and no compensation to anyone that is part of this organization. There are no endowments or grants, his vision was that the organization stay unattached and not be influenced by special interests or one-sided beliefs. His organization has continued through the generous donations and volunteers who provide the support for the continuing mission of the organization. The program facilitators and staff are volunteer and donate countless hours of their time to serve humanity.

There is so much I could write regarding the gifts George gave me during the time I knew him. From my first Omega One experience twenty five years ago until the last Monthly Workshop I participated in prior to moving away from Phoenix in the fall of 2003, I've never stopped learning from him.
Suffice it to say that the journey I began with George so long ago did not end with his passing.....

My gratitude is deep for all I have learned from George Addair since meeting him in 1985 and grew through "the work" and it formed the core of my being as a person and as a professional. As years passed, he became to me mentor and friend as we'd meet and engage on points of speculative philosophy as we'd sketch out ideas with which we played in ways that came to be integral to all my work as a teacher. And that is crucial because one of the ways in which the ideas of George Addair can be most honored - in addition to living these - is to pass them on. Death is that state in which one exists only in the memories of others. George's spirit, vision, and ideas are now alive in the lives of all of those whose hearts and minds he touched. George once described death as metaphorically like a ship sailing off over the horizon and we watch from this shore as the ship disappears into the void of what we here do not know... and, perhaps, on the other shore, one can see the ship emerge from over the horizon. We may not know what lay in the void, yet, me thinks, George now does. Meanwhile, on this shore, this world and each of us is better for his having walked along this shore with us.

I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to receive the knowledge and wisdom of such a great and inspirational man.
