Chadwick, George Oliver, I
George Chadwick, 81, of Paradise Valley, Arizona, passed away at 10:10pm on Thursday, March 5. He was born in Wiley Ford, West Virginia on August 29, 1927. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, dropped out of school in the 8th grade, entered the Navy at age 15, served in the Philippines, then completed his GED and graduated the University of Maryland on the GI Bill. He then taught high school in Middletown, Maryland and met the love of his life there. He hired on with Shell Oil Co. in 1956 for a long and successful management career until his retirement in 1988. The family lived in 11 different cities and 8 states during his Shell career. He was dashing, adventurous, athletic, caring, a very generous Christian, wise and full of integrity -- a leader and mentor to many. He was a model husband and father, survived by his wife, Rosalie, married for 52 years, and three sons, Guy, Kevin, and George, Jr., one daughter, Leslie, and nine grandchildren. A service will be held for family and friends at City of Grace Church, 96th Street & Cactus, Scottsdale at 1:00pm, Wednesday, March 18.
