George Hasl Obituary

George Hasl

Glendale - George Hasl, 87, of Glendale, AZ peacefully passed away on 11/28/2020.

He passed away in his home surrounded by his loving wife, family, and friends who adored him, just as he wanted.

George was born in Minnesota to Minnie and Otto Hasl. He grew up in Glendale, AZ since he was 6 years old with his siblings Elaine and Richard Hasl. As he got older, he joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. After his service, he attended Arizona State University to study Engineering, but he spent his career as a Foreman on a freight dock. George's life passion was not his career as much as it was adoring his family and being there for every moment he could. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. George also had a great love for the outdoors including hunting and fishing up in the pines.

His life was filled with endless love from his family. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hasl, of 63 years of marriage. Their love story is truly something special. He was an amazing father to Ronnie Hasl and Stacey Handley. George was a strong figure in the lives of many, especially to Gina Hasl and his son-in-law, Jeff Handley. To say George was a terrific grandfather would be an understatement. He loved his 7 grandchildren immensely, Paris, Keeton, Brityn, Greyson, Jaxxon, Aubree, and Wylder. Papa will be so missed. George also left behind his 2 dogs that never left his side, Roxy and Sage. There was not a person who did not absolutely love George after meeting him. He touched the lives of so many and will never be forgotten.

George's Celebration of Life will be held on 12/12/2020 at 1PM. Contact Joyce or Ronnie Hasl for location information.

George’s passing was a very sad day for me. George and I were friends since the 5 th grade. We went through high school, Joined the Navy together, and went to college together. We had many good hunting and fishing trips. My wife Sue and I offer our heart felt sympathy to George’s wife, Joyce, and rest of his family. Rest In Peace, my friend. With deepest sympathies, Joe and Sue Adamic

Still can’t believe you are gone papa. I love you so much. You and Mimi are the greatest, most loving and caring people to ever live. I feel so lucky everyday I have gotten so much time with such beyond wonderful grandparents. Mimi is missing you, but she has lots of support so don’t you worry. Until we meet again papa, keep watching over everyone. I know you’ll keep us all on the right track ❤ I do know for certain a day won’t go by that you are not in my thoughts & I am not missing you and your smile.

George was a national treasure. I have so many fabulous memories and am so very blessed to have been a part of the family for so many wonderful years. No one will ever take that special place in my heart where Papa George will forever reside. My sweet Georgie, I will miss you every day for the rest of my life.

I am sharing a photo of George and my dad, Bill Schmitt, who also passed this year. This is from my sister Marcy's 40th birthday party (I won't say how many years ago).
