Geraldine De Vries Obituary

De Vries, Geraldine "Gerry" Bukowiecki
75, of Phoenix, AZ. born in Chicago, IL, July 21, 1941; peacefully passed in her sleep into the loving arms of the Lord on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, 6:30 am. Loved ones that predeceased Gerry are her parents, John Fron, Marie Fron (Galkowski); and her loving husband of 33 years, who took their vow of "until death do us part" to heart. Her soulmate Edward Bukowiecki, 58, formerly of Timmins, Ontario, Canada loved her deeply until he succumbed to chronic illness in 1997. After a few years, she started dating again and found another Canadian gentleman, Henry De Vries, 77, of London, Ontario; eventually, they were married and lived a peaceful life until Alzheimer's took him to the Lord in March 2016. Loved ones that will miss Gerry until they meet again are; her daughters Kathi Bowles (Gary), Lori Soete (Wayne), only grandchild, Frankie Bowles and three grand·dogs. Additionally, her brother John Fron Jr., (Vicky), niece Sheryl Canning (John) and nephew Dr. John Fron III (Cheryl) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in the midwest. Geraldine attended Catholic school through high school with dreams of being a mother (the one that has babies not the one that prays for babies). Motherhood agreed with her and as her daughters grew, she worked in HR and attended night school, ultimately obtaining a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1987. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to purchase her own company "Beehive Answering Service", after several years of building the company, she sold the business and retired in 2000. She didn't sit still very long and she followed her heart to Phoenix Chiidren's Hospital as a volunteer for kids with Cancer. Gerry has always been an active participant in her church and she ramped that up with "Happy Hands", a group of church ladies that crocheted their fingers off, making afghans for the homeless, hats and beanies for the kids in the cancer ward. WelI Busia, we're going to miss Saturday morning polkas blasting throughout the house, polish sausage and pierogies emitting the aroma of polish love. Yet, we'll miss your smile and hugs the most! Rest in Peace Little Mama, we love you lots! On Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10:30am, a Memorial Service will be held at Phoenix Christian Reformed Church, 2438 East Earll Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85016 with a reception to immediately follow. Graveside memorial is for immediate family only. Visit hansenmortuary.com for condolences.

To Gerry's family, I am so sorry for your loss. I am Henry's granddaughter, Rebecca. Gerry always was so thoughtful and kind to me. She ALWAYS sent gifts on birthdays, Christmas and special occasions. I just found out about her passing and when I went to tuck my daughter in to bed tonight, I was once again reminded of Gerry as I pulled a knit blanket Gerry made her over her. I am so glad I got the opportunity to know Gerry and am extremely grateful for the love she showed my grandpa.
