Gertrude Stephenson Obituary
Gertrude "Trudy" Stephenson, age 98, wife of the late John D. Stephenson died at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick on Friday, October 28, 2016.
She was born December 24, 1917 in Jersey City, NJ a daughter of the late Raymond & Bertha Webber. She lived in Southern Pines, NC for more than 60 years and will forever consider that home. In addition to her husband & parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son Emmett "Scooter " Stephenson & his wife Dana of Little River, SC and her grandsons, Michael of Miami, FL, Hunter of Pinebluff, NC, and Zach, of Durham, NC, her sister Doris August of Broadway, VA, her sisters-in-law Ede (Joe) Davis of Southern Pines, NC and Doris Pigott of Shallotte Point, NC and many very special nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.
Trudy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She loved working in her yard, sewing & needle work. She outlived many and will be remembered with love and smiles by many more.
Graveside services will be held at the National Cemetery in Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m where she will be reunited with her beloved Johnny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Mercy Care, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

Scoots and Dana thanks so much for taking care of Aunt Gert. She has done so much for me.over the years. I will miss the phone calls and the visits to Southern Pines. She is also missed by her sister Doris. I wish I could have made the trip for the funeral. My prayers go to all of you.

Scoots, I will always remember Trudy with a smile. She was such a good neighbor to our family, and we always enjoyed her roses out front and azaleas out back. While there are people there now, nobody can replace Trudy in our memories.
