Gregory Hofmann Obituary

Hofmann, Gregory Lewis
Hofmann, Gregory LewisGregory Lewis Hofmann, 62, passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2014. Greg was raised in Palos Verdes, CA and made Arizona his home in the 1960s, originally to attend Judson School in Paradise Valley, where he met Roxanne (nee Peters), his wife of over 37 years. He is survived by Roxanne and their children: Richard of Newport Beach; Brandon of New York City; and Alexandra of New York City. Greg founded Turquoise Village in 1978 and was regarded among the most knowledgeable and trusted experts in Native American arts and jewelry, specific to the Zuni, Hopi and Navajo tribes. An avid traveler, Greg ventured across five continents and numerous countries alongside family and friends, always happy to return to the hiking trails in the Valley. He was a proud member of both the Charlie Russell Riders and Los Rancheros Vistadores. Greg was a loving husband, devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend who possessed true integrity and will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday January 12, 2014 at 1PM at the Paradise Valley Country Club, 7101 N Tatum Blvd, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911), 10645 N Tatum Blvd, Suite 200-516 Phoenix, AZ 85028, www.pacc.org, 602-992-4779

Who doesn't remember this handsome man with the infectious smile? He would be entirely proud of his two sons and daughter, how they've embraced his work ethic with gusto and how Roxanne has set her grief aside to live with purpose.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

He was kind. He was knowledgeable. He was trustworthy. Greg Hofmann loved his family, especially his precious Roxanne. Life split between Gallup and Phoenix was demanding, but he shouldered it well. God bless him and his beloved family !

Our sincere condolences to you and your family. We will always remember Greg as a caring person, who would not hesitate to help those that was always in need of his support. He was, and is still a great man, and would be remebered in our memories, of which we will always cherish. No words can decribe our loss for a great friend, as we cannot immagine how you, and your family is feeling right now. May the great Spirit look upon him, and take care of him, as he did with our Zuni People. We always take kind people like him for granted, and never know how precious he is, until he is gone. We will all miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you, as you spend your time of sorrow. From Strallie & Sheryl Edaakie.

My hope is that you will be comforted by his loving spirit, the good life you shared, and the many great memories. Love to you and the family.
