Guy Duhame Obituary

Guy Peter Duhame
1935-2014

Guy "Pete" Duhame, 78, of Scottsdale, Arizona - loving Father, great friend, pilot, contractor, and man who could fix anything, passed away on February 20, 2014 from complications due to Mesothelioma.

A native of Scottsdale, Pete was a wealth of knowledge about the Valley of the Sun, having seen it grow and change over his 78 years here. The city of Scottsdale grew up with him and Pete and his family helped to shape Scottsdale into the wonderful city it is. In addition to the buildings he built around the Valley, he developed the Sky Hi Retreat subdivision in Pinetop, Arizona.

Pete attended Scottsdale High and was an active athlete. He was a star football player and helped to lead the Varsity Basketball team to win a State Championship. At ASU he was Bond #1 and instrumental in founding the Phi Delta Theta fraternity there.

Pete was most proud of his service to his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air National Guard. He flew primarily KC 135s, mid-air refueling planes and was a member of the Barry Goldwater Squadron. He served in the Vietnam war and served his country from 1955-1987.

Pete always had a twinkle in his eye and a clever remark but always said in good fun. He was always there whenever friends or family needed him. He was the toughest Cowboy, sweetest man, and a handsome devil with the quickest wit. Pete will be profoundly missed by his friends and family.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Wesley Duhame and Jane E. Duhame, and his brother Charles Wesley Duhame. He is survived by his sisters, Elma Jean Wagner, Loretta Neumann, and Louise Olsen; his daughters Jacque Duhame and Cari Field; and his grandchildren, Oscar and Penelope Field.

Services will be held at The National Cemetery of Arizona at 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024 at 2:30 pm. Reception to follow immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of his favorite organizations, The Wounded Warrior Project: http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
