Harold Fogelson Obituary

Harold Lavern Fogelson was born in Redfield, South Dakota on October 14, 1921 to Bertha and Lester Fogelson. He served in the WW II Army Air Corp as a Flight Engineer on a B-17, was wounded over Germany on Jan 11th, 1944 and received the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in July of that year. Harold married Lucillle Giefer from Avoca MN on July 3, 1944 and they had 5 children, Terry Fogelson of Houston TX, Virginia Borduin of Tucson, Daniel Fogelson of Chandler, David Fogelson of Hillsboro, OR and Jeffrey Fogelson of Avondale. Besides his wife and children he is also survived by his brothers, Donald Fogelson and Frank Myer of Minnesota, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Harold and his family moved to Arizona from Minnesota in 1953. He worked at Williams AFB and Luke AFB as a jet engine mechanic and retired from civil service in 1983. Harold, a kind, gentle man of high moral character, was a loyal husband and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing. He resided in numerous cities throughout the Valley of the Sun and in Tucson, but his favorite home was the log cabin he built with his family just under the Mogollon Rim. He passed away in Tucson on June 21, 2008 just 2 weeks short of his 64th wedding anniversary. A memorial Mass will be held at St. John Vinney Catholic Church, 539 La Posada Blvd, Goodyear, Arizona 85335 on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 11 am.

Mr. Fogelson,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces in Europe during WW II as a crewman on the B-17 "Flying Fortress" Bomber as well as being a member of the Greatest Generation. Dear Skip, Terry, Ginny, Dan, David, Jeff and families. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. Your Dad was truly a special and loving man, who was proud of his family. We're sorry that we couldn't be with you for the services, but want you to know that we will be at Mass in West Concord on Tuesday morning, offering our prayers along with all of you. Hope you're doing OK, Skip. We know it will be lonely for you after 64 years together, but just know that he is not suffering anymore.
All our love,
Frankie and Mary Jo
