Harry Goss Obituary

Harry Thayer Goss, Esq. At 79 years old, Harry died at home Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Born to Harry and Grace Goss, March 29, 1929 in Phoenix, AZ. Harry served in the US Navy from 1946-'48. Graduated from Phoenix College in 1950, LLB; then from the University of Arizona in 1953, and was admitted to the State Bar in the same year. Harry practiced law in Phoenix with Cordova, Goss & Mariscal until 1969. He left the practice to join Karl Eller in the formation of Combined Communication Corp. In 1979, CCC merged with Gannett Co. Inc. Harry continued with Gannett as the President of Gannett Outdoor Group until 1986 when he retired in Phoenix. From 1979-'86 he was chairman of Republic National Bank. Harry also served as the chairman of the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. In 1984 he received the Myles Standish Award from the OAAA. He is survived by his wife Joanne, and his children: Mike Goss (Debbie), Mark Goss (Lisa) and Mindy Longwell. Harry was blessed with six grandchildren: Matthew and Alison Goss; Chaz and Mackenzie Longwell; and Dayna and Taber Garcia. Harry was uniquely blessed with two soul mates: Joanne and his first wife, Ann Marie, who preceded him death. Services to celebrate Harry's life will be held Monday, Feb. 16th at 11:00am at St. Barnabas on the Desert 6715 N. Mockingbird Ln. Scottsdale, AZ 85253.
