EDEN — Mr. Harvey Swanson Handy, 81, of 6370 Legendary Lane in Wedgefield, SC passed away on Thursday afternoon, October 7, 2010 at Forrest Oakes Health Care Center in Albemarle, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Handy was born in Bassett, Va. on March 22, 1929, a son of Claude Swanson and Lillie Mabe Handy, both deceased. He was retired from Smith Construction.
He is survived by his son, Terry Handy and wife Judy of Albemarle, NC; his sisters, Rachel Spencer and husband Wade of Wedgefield, SC and Mildred Canaday and husband Gilbert of Martinsville, Va.; his brothers, Howard Handy and wife Hazel of Bassett, Va., and Clarence Handy of Patrick Springs, Va.; his grandchildren, Doyle Wayne Handy, Christopher Lee Handy and Jason Kemper Handy; and his one great grandchild, Dillon Lee Handy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hopper Handy.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Saturday immediately preceding the service at Boone-Reynolds Funeral Home.
