Hazel Benedict Obituary

Hazel Nickles Benedict, 97, of Tempe, passed away on March 5, 2005. She was born on July 22, 1907, in Masham, Oklahoma, and grew up in La Plata, New Mexico. In 1932 she married Franklin J. Benedict, former superintendent of Benson Public Schools and Tempe Union High School District, and they spent their married life in Benson and Tempe, Arizona. Hazel was a long-time member of Tempe Women?s Club, an avid bridge player, and was honored as a Tempe All-American Woman in 1985. Hazel Benedict was predeceased by her parents, 11 brothers and sisters, and her husband Franklin in 1997. Her survivors include: two sons Franklin O. and his wife Sharron, Prescott, and John C. and his wife Jane, Tempe; granddaughters Rhonda Rosdahl and her husband Keith, Prescott, Jennifer Benedict, San Francisco, Julie Benedict, Phoenix, and Kelly Benedict, Tucson; great grandchildren Levi, Sierra, and Alexa Rosdahl, Prescott; brother-in-law Sam Benedict and his wife Kay, Casa Grande, sisters-in-law Irene Benedict, Tempe, and Barbara Nickles, Elgin, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd., Tempe on Friday, March 11, at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at East Resthaven Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
