Howard Miller Obituary

Miller, Howard E.
age 90, a long-time resident of Dayton, OH and recently of Sun City, AZ passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at his home in Sun City after a short illness. Howard was born on December 17, 1920 in Dayton, OH. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as a Staff Sergeant with the 4053rd AAF Base Unit. He served overseas for 27 months. Howard was a purchasing agent with General Motors and retired in 1981 after 40 years of service. He also was a long time high school and college football referee for Dayton, OH area schools. Howard loved sports of all kinds, including horse racing, his Cincinnati Reds, The Ohio State Buckeyes, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. In October of 2009, Howard had the opportunity to take the Honor Flight from Dayton to Washington, DC, to visit the World War II Memorial. Most recently Howard celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends at Turf Paradise. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 52 years Patricia Wick Miller, and his four sisters and brother. He is survived by his daughters Jean Palumbo (Michael) of Phoenix, AZ and Kim Villella (Jim) of Chandler, AZ, Granddaughter Katherine Palumbo, Grandson Anthony Palumbo, Special Friend and Companion Kathleen Loewer, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held in Fairborn, OH January 29. Everyone that ever met Howard will remember him for his great smile and teasing, his laugh, and that twinkle in his eyes. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Honor Flight Inc., 300 East Auborn, Springfield, OH 45505.
