Isaac Rassas Obituary

Rassás, Isaac Ibrahim
passed away peacefully in Scottsdale, Arizona on December 19. Isaac's final days were spent surrounded by family, laughter and joy. Isaac's laughter was truly contagious, which was only fitting given that his name in Hebrew means, "He laughs." Born in Jerusalem, Palestine in 1937, Isaac always spoke fondly of his beloved "old country." When he came to the United States he found his one true love, Jan, with whom he has spent the last 54 glorious years. Isaac spent his life dedicated to helping others find happiness. He was engaged in the airline and travel industry for the past 45 years. Isaac had a presence that was larger than life and a heart that was just as big, which could be seen in his love and compassion for animals. Isaac had several beloved dogs throughout the years who he loved immensely and now joins in Heaven. His gentle soul was one of a kind and evident in his tremendous generosity and sincere concern for others. The impact Isaac had on so many countless lives is immeasurable. Isaac will be greatly missed by all who knew him. However, his family and friends will continue to feel his spirit among us as he was one who never wanted to miss out on time spent with his loved ones. Isaac is survived by his loving wife Jan, son Jeffrey (wife Debi), granddaughters Hayden Rassás and Jourdan Parker (husband Adam). A celebration of Isaac's life will be held on January 3 at 2 p.m. at Scottsdale First Church of the Nazarene, located at 2340 N. Hayden Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Halo Animal Rescue. Donations can be sent directly to the shelter at 2500 S. 27th Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85009, or online at https://halorescue.ejoinme.org/MyPages/MemorialDonationPage/tabid/286630/Default.aspx Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary.

Jan, I'm so sorry. Worked for and with Isaac. I was the sales rep for Dateline tours and then worked at your agency at Metro Tech. Isaac was a force unto himself. He will be missed.

Isaac is simply a wonderful human being - Intelligent, humorous, friend to all and devoted to his family.

In more than fifty years of knowing Isaac, a few of many memories stand out in my mind. Starting with instructions on how to catch a fly bare handed (something all young men must know), noticing my nine year old daughter's distress at her grandmother's funeral home viewing he scooped her up and treated her to a falafel across the street, 300 miles from his home, and he KNOWS the owner. Isaac really knew people all over the world. My daughter, to this day, fondly remembers his compassion. When people were invited to give a eulogy at my mother's funeral, Isaac was the only one to step up and his words uplifted everyone.

I am one of the lucky ones to have known Isaac. I will miss him.

As a member of the Phoenix area travel community I've known Isaac for more than 35 years. He always seemed invincible despite his recent medical issues. No matter when you asked how he was, his answer was always "Wonderful!" When Isaac would call and I would answer using my name, his slightly accented response of "Big Deal!" always brought a smile to my face. Isaac was truly the big deal. Over the years, he brought people together and was an important part of the travel industry, involved in his business and as an airline rep, in addition to heading up several travel organizations and associations.

I'm so happy that he had his family with him and that his wife Jan, was able to fortuitously work from home to be by his side.

Isaac will be missed not only by his family, but all that knew him. He may be gone, but he certainly will not be forgotten.

Peace, my friend.

I'm so sorry about Ike's passing. He was a delightful guy and such a wonderful character! Jan and family, my thoughts are with you.
I wish I could make the service, but am taking care of a friend's son, as she has to work that day, and I'm her only backup.
But I'm sending you love, for sure.

As a young girl I loved to hear Mr. Rassas talk, that accent intrigued me and as I sit and think of him now I can hear it as clear as it was many years ago. Prayers to the family.

Isaac was the tall, dark and handsome guy so often mentioned in romantic fiction. At least, that's what I thought as a fifteen year old bridesmaid at Jan and Isaac's wedding. Over the many years since their wedding, Mel and I came to know him as the quintessential generous, light hearted and humorous person that we all knew so well. We will miss him!
