Jack Dunbar Obituary
Dunbar, Jack
passed away peacefully on March 29, 2009, at the Hospice of the Valley Sherman House in Phoenix, AZ. Jack was an Arizona native. Born in Phoenix a couple of years after Arizona became a State, he lived his childhood years in the family home near 7th street and Roosevelt and attended the now historic Monroe school. Jack attended high school and college in North Manchester, Indiana, where he met and married Eileen. Together they returned to Phoenix in 1939. Jack and Eileen were a loving married couple for 71 wonderful years, until her death in 2006. For most of Jack's adult life he was engaged in the successful business he founded in Phoenix -- a wholesale service station supplies company. Jack enjoyed frequent fishing trips, golf, bowling and playing bridge with his many friends and family. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid follower of the Suns and Diamondbacks. Jack was also an avid reader who always had a book nearby. Jack was a devoted member of the Brethren Faith. He will be deeply missed for his laughter, gentle spirit and caring support for his family and friends. He had a knack for being light hearted and making everyone around him feel the same. His children and grandchildren also enjoyed listening to his stories of his life and experiences which he told with wonderful enthusiasm, humor and often a mischievous grin no one will soon forget. Jack is survived by his two children Nancy (Paul) Beiley of Phoenix and David (Marjorie) Dunbar of Lafayette, California; his six grandchildren, Karrin Dunbar, Brad Dunbar, Jason Dunbar, Drew Dunbar, Mark Beiley, Todd Beiley and his seven great grandchildren. He was loved and admired by all of them, and will be greatly missed as a part of their lives. Memorial services to celebrate Jack's life and spirit will be held on Saturday, April 11 with Pastor Kate Spire officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 AM and the Life Remembrance Service will be held at 11 AM, both at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road in Phoenix. Jack will be placed at final rest in a private ceremony at Resthaven Park Cemetery at a later date. He will be forever remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandpa, poppy and friend.
