James Baker Obituary

Baker, James Madison
James Madison Baker, sweet husband, inspiring father, awesome grandpa, adored family member and friend 1940-2009. Jim was called home and left us peacefully, December 7, 2009 around 11:00pm surrounded by his wife, daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren and family. Jim's earthly mission drew to a close after countless miracles and enduring courage. Jim was born October 20, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas to Robert and Mary Baker. Jim and Charlene (Joy) were married April 29, 1961 and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Temple, March 6, 1965. Early in life Jim trained horses and there met his sweetheart, Charlene. Jim worked construction thereafter, where his love to plan and build was satisfied. Jim and Charlene were blessed with five daughters and one son to share in an eternal family. Living life to the fullest was an accomplishment of Jim's. His deep love and understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ blessed his life and all those who had the privilege to meet him. He had an amazing ability to love all, and encourage the best in everyone. As we remember him our hearts will always be full of gratitude for the exemplary life he lead. Jim joined his parents, brother John, daughter Jenni, and son David. He will be missed greatly here by his wife Charlene, his daughters & son-in-laws, Christine & Leo, Sherri & Dean, Bekki & Barry, Merrie & Heath, twenty-five grandchildren, two great grand children and many other close family members and friends. Services for Jim will be held Friday December 11, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 22034 N 83rd Ave in Peoria, AZ. There will be a viewing at 11:00am with services to be held immediately following at 12:00pm. Allen's Funeral Home 480-833-1716

Jim is more of a Father to me than an Uncle. I learned to Sing at the top of my lungs even if you can't carry a tune. The first one to jump in the mud with his expensive boots because there was work to be done, I learned a work Ethic. He taught me that gentle, quiet strength are the qualities of a real man. His love for Charlene was the example that taught me how to love a woman. Oh how he Loves her. I know you are still watching over your family Jim.
