James Williams Obituary

James L. Williams was born in Sontag, Mississippi August 3, 1935. His parents, James W. and Ollie Williams relocated to Arizona when he was a small child and settled in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he grew up. He
attended Whittier College for two years and graduated from Northern Arizona University. He served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. Jim accomplished much in his life, mentored others to excel, and made a difference in the communities he lived (Flagstaff, Phoenix, Seattle, Washington DC, and Albuquerque). Jim was an excellent manager and leader and developed several employment and training organizations. He served as the Associate Director of the Phoenix Urban League, CEO of the Phoenix and Seattle OICs. He valued lifelong learning and "giving back". At the time of his death the City of Albuquerque employed him; he was originally hired as manager of the city's community centers. He had been the chair of the Amy Biehl Charter School since its inception. James is survived by his parents Mr. And Mrs. James W.
