Waddell, Jean Patricia
103, of Tempe, Arizona passed away on June 7, 2012 at Westchester Care Center in Tempe. She was born in Richmondale, Pennsylvania on October 19, 1908 but had resided in Arizona most of the last 70 years of her life. She was a long time resident of Globe, Arizona before moving to Tempe in the early 80's. In Globe she was involved in the local and statewide political scene and was active in her husband's Indian jewelry business. Until the death of her husband, B.C. "the love of her life", the two were inseparable and totally committed to each other. Jean will always be remembered for 2 major things, first her belief in God and her strong devotion to the Catholic Church and secondly her love of family. Until she was 98 she attended every annual family vacation to California and was also in attendance at most of her grandkids and great-grandkids birthday parties, sporting events, and any other activities in which they were involved. She appreciated the love her family extended to her and in return gave back much more to each and every member of her entire family. In recent years she had been limited in her ability to cook but family members will always cherish the memories of wonderful home-cooked meals including making several different kinds of pies "from scratch" for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other major family functions. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, B.C. Waddell, her son Bill and 9 of her siblings. She is survived by her sons, Dave (Sheryl) Mather, Paul (Betty) Waddell, Gene (Ann) Waddell, Roy Waddell; daughter Carolyn Pierce; daughter-in-law, Margaret Waddell and unofficial "adopted" daughter Cheryl (Jeff) Kindree-Shira, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren with 2 to soon be born, and 5 great-great grandchildren with 1 on the way. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Mortuary Chapel, 1562 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, Arizona 85204. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 E. Libra Dr., Tempe, Arizona 85283 with burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1562 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, Arizona. Arrangements entrusted to Queen of Heaven Mortuary.
