Jerry N. Balan

Jerry N. Balan, 72, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died on Friday,October 7th at Hospice of the Valley-Eckstein Center, Scottsdale, AZ. Formerly of West Bloomfield, Michigan, a CPA, he was for many years Chief Financial Officer of Paragon Steel Corporation, Detroit, and then in 1985 a founding Partner in BBK Limited, a financial management consulting firm. He was a longstanding and active member of Temple Beth El, Birmingham, Michigan. After retiring in December 1997, he later became a full time resident of Scottsdale. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy, of Scottsdale, his daughter Susan Shpeen (Rabbi Scott) of Albany, NY, son, Steven (Rachel) of West Bloomfield, Michigan, sister, Jacqueline Bernstein (Dr. Donald) of Woodland Hills, CA, grandchildren Hilary and Adam Shpeen, Andrew, Melissa and Joshua Balan and mother-in-law, Lucille Weil of Scottsdale, AZ. He was predeceased in August 1997 by his wife of 42 years, the former Saralyn Saperston. Graveside Funeral services were held at the Beth El Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan Monday, October 10th.
