Jessie Sanchez Obituary

Jessie Castro Sanchez, 86, passed away peacefully to be in heaven on 27 December 2004. Born in Morenci, Arizona on 23 June 1918, she lived her life in Phoenix raising her family and established a long lasting place in our community and our lives and hearts. Her two husbands, Robert F. Castro, and Manual Sanchez, both of whom she loved dearly, preceded her in death. Her survivors include her sons, Dr. Ronald Castro and wife Jacqueline, and Robert Castro Jr., as well as Manual's children: Rosie, Dolores, Martha, and Manual Jr. Jessie (Nana) will be remembered for the loving things she did for her grandchildren, Ronald Castro Jr., Julie Castro Barry, Jamie Castro, Joanna Castro, Anna Castro, and Robert Castro III, and great-grandchildren, Conner, Cole, and Kennedy Barry, and Brendan Castro. She had special relationships with many brothers, sisters, cousins, and in-laws. Her extended family included all who were her neighbors, coworkers, employers, or anyone who ever shared with her a spontaneous meal at her kitchen table during a visit to her home. Jessie will be deeply missed by her best friend and neighbor of 25 years, Rose Mary Fabian and husband Raoul who shared their lives with her on East Pierce Street. Jessie moved into her home of 56 years as a new mother with an infant son and husband following WWII. She was adamant in living her entire life in her cherished home with all of her memories. She patiently waited to join her loved ones in heaven. She said many times that the good Lord would take her when He was ready for her. The time has now come. She was a wonderful loving lady and will be missed by all those who had the honor of having her in their lives. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M., Thursday 30 December 2004 at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. Catholic Rosary Service to commence at 12:00 noon, with interment to follow at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 North 48th Street.

Dear Ron, Robby and extended families,

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. She will be missed here, but the Lord has his plan and she is part of it. A quote from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, "And ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation." May all of our prayers help comfort all of you in your sorrow.

With my deepest sympathy,

To Ronald, Robert and extended family,

I wish to extend to you my sincerest sympathies for the passing of your beloved mom and mentor. Jessie was very important to me as a youngster since she was my first and certainly most meaningful of Cub Scout Den Mothers. I can still recall that when the "official" job of being a Den Mother was complete and the paper mache, popscicle sticks or whatever Jessie was showing us how to use to make some "endearing" item to take home to our own moms was put away, there was that wonderful food she had prepared for us as an added bonus for being good. A comparison for today's youngsters might be a trip to Chuckie Cheese's or Pizza Hut. I would take Jessie's tamales and burros any day over pizza. May the good Lord continue to watch over and protect our beloved Jessie for eternity.
