Jim Walruff Obituary

Jim Walruff, 66, of Phoenix, passed away Sunday, September 7, after a year - long battle with lung cancer. His wife Judy was at his side. We knew Jim as a businessman, private pilot, skilled NLP counselor, inventor, and computer guru. His wit, intelligence, compassion, and all- around good nature made time with him special for all who knew him. Jim was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on June 12, 1937. As a youngster he lived with his family in Arizona and Colorado. He was a veteran of the military, serving in both the Air Force and Army over a span of 12 years. He held a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Jim married Judy in 1967. They moved to Tucson in 1980 and made their home in Phoenix in 1984. His interest in artificial intelligence and information technology led him to establish a business developing software applications for health and social service agencies. Jim's family includes daughters Christie Lynn Tibbs (Brad) and Darcy Beattie (Roger). Grandchildren are Brian and Jenny Tibbs; Katy Jo, Ashley Marie, and Mackenzie Beattie; and Brandy Beattie Marvin (Ryan), the new parents of great- grandbaby Joshua Alan. Family also includes aunt Norma Ketchum; cousins Mary Buchan Arnold (Mike), Dr. Roy Buchan, (Dr. Vickie), and Mike Ketchum (Janice); nieces Wendy Maltese and Susan Gohn; nephew John Maltese; brother and sister-in- law John and Sandi Maltese; and aunt Frances and uncle Joe Carlino. Arrangements are entrusted to ScienceCare to help find cures for disease. A gathering of friends to remember Jim will be held September 20th at the home of Cathryn Lore and John Morgali. For those wishing to do so, a contribution in his memory may be made to the Children's Action Alliance, 4001 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, 85012 or the Adobe Mountain Wild Life Center, C/O AZ Game & Fish, 2221 W. Greenway Rd, Phoenix, Az 85023.

Judy:

Our thoughts are with you at this moment. The pain you feel stems from Love of Jim and the vacancy that leaves with you. Now, your challenge is to go forward with him as your legacy and you as the bearer of the torch of BOTH of you! You are strong and he valued your strength. May you find comfort in our thoughts and affections.

Dear Judy,

I know mere words cannot begin to ease the pain and sorrow you are feeling right now, only time can do that. However, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayer and I am wishing you peace and rest during this deep saddness in your life. I never met Jim but I am sure he was as special as you are.
