Cashell, Joan "Laurie"
Joan "Laurie" Cashell, 63, of Waddell, AZ, formerly of Brockton, MA, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016, after a brief illness. She was born on March 11, 1953, in Boston, MA, and grew up in Dorchester, MA, before moving to Randolph, MA. She worked as a second grade teacher for 23 years in the Holbrook, MA, public school system. She also worked as a telephone operator, retail sales person at Grants Department Store and Radio Shack, receptionist for WLVI channel 56 TV station, real estate agent, paralegal, notary and customer service representative. She was a loving step-mother and step grand-mother and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard W. Cashell and Gertrude E. (Riley) Cashell. She was the beloved wife of Jon "Jack" Nelson Reyes. She was a loving step-mother of Janice Nadine Reyes of Waddell, AZ, and Joshua Anthony Reyes of Cambridge, MA. She was a loving step-grandmother of Ana Alicia Gonzales and Steven Bradley Gonzales of Phoenix, AZ. She was the sister of Richard W. Cashell, Jr. of Dedham, MA. Her cousins that survive her are Ellen F. Riley of Cape Coral, FL; Kathleen Mohtady of Cape Coral, FL; Mary Lynn LaVigna of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ; Allan R. Riley of Wilmington, MA; Lawrence D. Riley of Boston, MA; Gerard J. Riley of Byfield, MA; Christopher P. Riley of Saugus, MA; Lawrence L. Riley of Dennis, MA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial services to celebrate Laurie to be held on Wednesday, November 9 at 10:00 am in the chapel at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351. It will be followed by a reception at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to American Liver Foundation http://www.liverfoundation.org/. Laurie was a very kind and gentle person. We had many fun times together over the years and I'm glad she fulfilled her long-time dream of living in Arizona. I will miss her very much.

Jack and family,, I am so sorry for your loss.. Laurie was a great friend, who was always willing to help anyone in need of assistance, never second guess.... Laurie taught my daughter, she was wonderful with all of her students.. I missed Laurie when she moved to AZ , I never got to visit her and Jack.. Your family are in my prayers

Joan was an inspiration to me. I admired all those wonderful qualities that made her the special person that she was. She had wit, charm and a caring heart that made her a great person.

I will always be thankful that I had the opportunity to know her . I will cherish her memory for years to come.
