Joan Grandinetti Obituary

Joan Grandinetti

Phoenix - JOAN ALICE GRANDINETTI 6/17/1938 - 9/28/2018

Joan Grandinetti, 80, passed peacefully in her sleep at home on Friday, September 28, 2018.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years and the love of her life, Andy. She leaves behind her brother, Harry, sister Monica, daughter Vicki (Dennis), son Michael (Jules), and grandchildren Tyler, Drew and Allison.

Joan Thornton was born on a Friday morning in Phoenix, Arizona and was proud of her Arizona heritage having lived in the state her entire life. Originally raised in Queen Creek as a farm girl attending Chandler High School, she is quick to tell you that she is from Scottsdale (God's Country) and most definitely not a farm girl. A nice glass of wine, sunshine and the patio at Kona Grill is Joan's perfect afternoon.

At 20 years old, Joan married her one and only true love, Andy Grandinetti and they created a life together not very often seen in this world. After raising their two children, Vicki and Michael, in their Phoenix home, Joan and Andy spent many years together until his passing in 2004.

Anyone who knew Joan knew that she was the proudest of her three grandchildren, Tyler, Drew and Allison and they were the center of her world. She spent her life caring for them and in fact, took care of them during the day while their parents worked through their childhood years.

Joan Grandinetti left us on a Friday morning after a brief battle with cancer and was a fighter to the end. Surrounded by her loving family, she said her Good-byes to each and left us to be with Andy.

Services for Joan will be at Messinger Mortuary 7601 E. Indian School Road at 10:00 am on Friday, October 5th followed by a brief graveside service at St. Francis Cemetery and then a memorial service at 1:30pm at Oregano's at 3102 North Scottsdale Road.
