Hamblin, JoAnn Stewart
17 June 1936 - 8 August 2016 JoAnn was born in Thatcher, Arizona to Zona Mangum and Joe Ramsey Stewart. A third generation native Arizonan and life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she attended school in Phoenix and Mesa, graduated from Mesa High School in 1954. After attending Arizona State University she married Lyle Marshall Hamblin. Their 60th Anniversary would have been celebrated in September. She raised her four children, Michael (Leesa), Diane (Tom Koss), Susan (Mark Hawkins) and John (Arien) with a strong emphasis in education, which resulted in multiple undergraduate and post graduate degrees and professional credentials. As her children matured she supplemented the family resources by working with her parents at Stewart-Crockett Honey Company, Phoenix. Later she began raising King Charles Cavalier spaniels, researched her family's genealogy (especially those connections that showed descent from the Royal House of Scotland), and created lovely quilts for her children, grandchildren and cousins. A life-long Democrat in a sea of Republicans, she held her ground well and was good natured during election years. JoAnn was pre-deceased by her parents and sister, Kathleen Stewart Burr. She is survived by her husband, four children and their spouses, fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember her as a selfless and generous person. Services 12 August 2016, 10am, with visitation at 9am, at the LDS chapel, 848 N. Westwood, Mesa. Internment Mesa Cemetery.
