I worked with John at CSK Auto for many years. He was a brilliant analyst and he had a marvelous sense of humor. We had lunches for many years after the demise of CSK and he was always a warm and interesting person. He will be missed.

My heart is broken. John and I both attended the U of A, and on his birthday, he got a doughnut shaped like a bear claw- That was the most fun and enlightening day at the office. Here is the photo of John and his giant bear claw doughnut <333

I am deeply saddened by the news of John's passing. I had the great pleasure of working with John for three years. One thing I really liked about John was him trying to be tough, but if you looked really close he had a smile under all that toughness. And if you would point it out he would get all embarrassed.
John, I wish you eternal happiness.

Life is but a series of paths that we travel. I am fortunate that our paths crossed several times over the past 30 years and that I got the opportunity to know you. You were a friend and a colleague and I am honored to have known you. You will be greatly missed. I wish you an eternal life of peace and happiness, free from the binds of mortality.

John was a dedicated assistant treasurer of the IMA AZ Valley of the Sun Chapter here in Phoenix. He attended almost all of our board meetings and always took care of the bookings at our tech sessions, confirming the meals at the Marriott. We knew him as our fun fellow management accountant/FPA. He was often joining us in our chapter board photos, as attached in 2013. You will be truly missed by all of us as our good friend. Rest in peace John Bakker.

John was one of my best friends growing up. When we weren't busy climbing the huge tree in his back yard (scaring his mom) we were harassing his two sisters. When we were a bit older it was seeing who could ski the fastest, or daredevil driving on dirt roads. Believe it or not that was younger John. i still can't believe he jumped out of a plane once. I loved him like a brother and will miss him for the rest of my life. He had a great family who treated me as one of their own. I share your loss deeply.

I am very saddened to learn of John's passing. He was certainly an intelligent and generous person and simply an overall good guy to be around. When I was on crutches he was so helpful in many small but very meaningful ways, holding the door for me, carrying papers, refilling my drink, etc. all without ever being asked. It was just his kind nature.

You will be missed John, but I'll keep that lunch appointment.

I only worked with John for a few months but the few interactions I had with him in that short period of time I appreciate. He always walked around with a smile on his face. Anytime we passed each other he would give a warm smile and hello. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends during this difficult time. May you forever rest in peace John.

I am so happy to have known John, he has forever impacted my life. I will always be grateful for the time that we spent together and for the knowledge that he was able to share with me. Thank you, John, for all the laughs, lunches, high fives, and for putting up with my horrible singing in the car! You will be dearly missed.
