I just learned of Dr. John X. Evans' passing. I'm sending my heart-felt condolences to his beloved family. As an undergraduate at A.S.U., I studied metaphysical poets under his guidance. He was a scholar, a mentor, and a gentle soul. RIP!

Belated condolences from past ASU student, Rosalyn Butt. I remember him being a great influence and inspiring me to love John Milton. I considered him a great friend.

Memorial service and mass were beautiful and moving tributes to Jack Evans. My prayers continue for Rosie, John, Elizabeth, and the whole family.
Professor Elizabeth McCutcheon, Univ. of Hawaii, asked me to send her condolences. "Im so sorry to hear about John Evans. Like George Bush, he was a Christian and a gentleman. Of course I remember him and his wife; I met them at least once, probably more than once, at the Huntington. They were also friends of the Doeblers. If Bettie-Anne should be at the funeral tomorrow, please give her my best wishes as well as giving Johns wife Rosemarie my condolences. I remember she was sketching or painting at the Huntington."
Another acquaintance, Larry Marcus, also asked me to offer his condolences to Jack's family. Larry remembers Jack's kind and generous support around 1990 for his messianic Christian outreach on the ASU campus for a year or so. Jack was so encouraging to this total stranger with a calling to spread God's love and the gospel.
