Pappas, John
John Pappas, 73 of Scottsdale AZ passed away at his home on Jan. 1, 2011 after a very long and difficult fight with cancer. John was born in Chicago. At 18, he began his career as a licensed union electrician and was a member of the I.B.E.W., Local #134, until his retirement in 1997. John loved traveling, cooking and his family. John was able to travel to many countries and cities in the United States even when he was ill. He was also an active member of the Greek Assumption Church in Scottsdale, AZ. Beloved husband of DeLaine "Dee" nee Backman. Loving father of Jim (Kathy Schulte) Pappas, Penny (Keith) Sauer and Steve (Nicole) Pappas. Devoted son of the late James and Penelope Pappas. Proud papou of Michelle Solmen, Lauren Pappas McCaw and Sarah Pappas. Dear brother of Peter (Stacy) Pappas, Tom Pappas and Frances (John) Marx. Godfather of Andrew Spiropoulos. Fond uncle, cousin and friend of many. Visitation Thursday from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago. Family and friends will meet Friday afternoon at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 2727 W. Winona St., Chicago for funeral service at 12:00pm. Interment Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements by JOHN G.
